Hey Austin, hey forum,

I just installed wp-db-admin 2.2.3 DE-Edition on Wordpress 3.2.1 on Win2k Server which we are hosting by ourselves.

Installation worked fine and the progress bar when starting a backup looked promising. I got a 48kB file which I downloaded, but it seems as if the file is not a GZIP file. 7-ZIP as well as TUGZip say it's not a proper GZIP file when I try to decompress.

Due to incompatibility with win2k we use an older PHP version on our server namely 5.2.17.

Hi, I am trying to use your nice plugin with wp 3.2.1. But I am getting this error on a white screen when trying to do a default backup: "Are you sure you want to do this?" There is no tickbox what so ever.

Wp-backup has stopped working and I have no idea why or where to start looking to fix it. I have installed no new plug-ins, file permissions are good.
Behaviour is that when I click on backup it takes me to my home page. No error message or anything just flips me out of admin.

How to make a few changes (using WP Database Backup) without loosing access?

I need to make a few changes to the database, such as the domain name, and the path to the website, etc.

I'm afraid that if I use this application and make one change, that I won't be able to continue and make the additional changes since I may lose connection to the backed of my Wordpress website (after I make the initial change).

What possible recommendations might you have?

Is there a way to make a few changes (all together) somehow so I won't lose access to my Wordpress website after I make each change??

I disabled other plugins 1 by 1 and confirmed 64 meg memory_limit in php.ini

also uncomented and set define('MOD_EVASIVE_OVERRIDE', true);
and set delay as much as 5000

This is a very small and new database (only 3 users right now) so db size is not an issue.

I tried saving to server and downloading.

WorfPress 3.2.1
wp db backup 2.2.3

Anything else I should try?

Had the DB backup plugin set up to send emails daily to my user. (www.courtneyaaron.com) After updating to Wordpress 3.2.1, the plugin started sending database backup files every 15-30 minutes.

What do I do!? I'm at a loss.

Hello! I have changed hosting companies and want to use the back-up zip file I have from using your plugin to restore the entire wordpress site to the new host.

I have installed wordpress at the new hosting account, but now what? How do I install the backup to the new hosting account?

Will this install (restore) all the graphics, posts, etc?

great tool-so easy to set up and use!
Been using your database basck up tool for about three months -just in test mode.

It was working great until recently when it has stopped performing the following functions on our test database which in raw sql mode is 30mbytes big:
- wont gzip
-wont save to pc (insists on saving direct to server)
-wont email back up (presumablky because its too big in unzipped format)

Any ideas please?

I have no idea whether I like this plug-in or not. Doesn't matter. After reading the steps you took to create just this one, I immediately began looking for a "Buy Me A ..." button.

While another programmer may not be impressed, I'm not a programmer. I'm impressed.

When running the "Download to your computer" backup function, the status bar slowly progresses from 0 to 100%, but then nothing happens. There is no prompt to download the backup file(s).

Tried both IE and Firefox.

Plugin version is 2.2.3

I know I must be missing something obvious here, but I've uploaded the DB plugin and activated it, and I cannot figure out what to do now. The instructions say: "Click the Manage menu in your WordPress admin area" and then "Click the Backup sub-menu." But I don't have a "Manage" menu! I've searched and searched for anything called "Manage" or "Backup," and it doesn't exist in my dashboard. What am I doing wrong?

When I contacted my support, the person has no idea where to find the file.

I'm sure this is a very simple fix, but I could not find exactly where on here the info was to fix this problem. I am getting this error message on my backup settings page:

WARNING: Your backup directory is NOT writable!

WARNING: Your backup directory is NOT writable! We cannot create the backup files.

This problem seems to be caused by your server’s safe_mode file ownership restrictions, which limit what files web applications like WordPress can create.
You can try to correct this problem by using your FTP client to delete and then re-create the backup directory: (my directory here)

I checked the folder wp-content and it's file permissions are set to 777. I also manually added the folder in there and it still would not accept it. Any help would b egreat!

I maintain two WordPress sites and I used DB WP backup to backup the databases of both sites. I've been able to restore one site from its backup, but I've been having problems with the other one.

When I try to restore the second site, I get redirected to wp-admin/install.php, which asks me to enter the title, username, password, and email address. If I enter this information, it installs WordPress but without any of the backed-up posts (although the themes and plugins in the wp_content folder are accessible). So it seems to be unable to access the database.

Both sites were backed-up using the same procedure. The site that I'm having problems with is much bigger than the other one and was backed-up using an older version of WordPress (v2.2.3).

Has anyone else has encountered a similar problem? Also, does anyone have ideas of things to try?

This is from your webpage "When having the database backup emailed or sent to your browser for immediate download, the backup file will be deleted from the server when the transfer is finished. Only if you select delivery method “Save to server” will the backup file remain on your server."

I have my backups set to email to me not to save to the server,but they are staying on the server anyway. My host advised me today that I have hundreds of database backups on their server which is causing issues with overuse of their resources.

I am using Version 2.2.3 of the plugin.

How can I fix this?

Hi,

The backups that are being generated by this plugin have one problem.

In the table wp_posts some of the entries are getting duplicated. Obviously since the ID is a primary key, there cannot be multiple entries with same ID but the backup file contains multiple entries with same ID. Due to this, I am not able to restore the backup.

I would have changed the sql file manually but there are lots of duplicate entries.

Earlier the plugin was generating proper backup files. Can anyone please suggest what is going wrong?
