You are perfectly right! The problem was that winzip was uncompressing in a output file with the ".sql.gz" extention. Trying to uncompress this output file gives a "not valid archive" alert.
I just edited the extention and opened it in a text editor and it is a normal sql file absolutely not corrupted.
Excuse me for bothering you!!
And many thanks for the wonderful plugin.

I'm not sure what problem there is that I can fix. The file is not corrupted; you just don't have the right tool to extract it. If you can't use the WIN 32 executable from the gzip.org site, try googling "Vista" and "gzip," and you'll find some freeware gzip applications.

If your concern is that you won't be able to restore your database, recent versions of phpMyAdmin handle gzip-compressed files, and of course every *nix server can as well.

i'm a windows vista user so i can't use gzip.
I have tryed with several other applications included winzip and the file has always resulted corrupted.

it's a pity beacuse i think that your plugin could be very useful and has very good interface and features.

is there a chance to solve this problem?

Yes, use a real gzip tool to extract it.
